Library Policies
Library Cards (Student ID) – Library cards are given to all new students at no charge. This is the only card that you will receive at no cost. If you lose your library card, there will be a $5.00 fee to replace it.
Library Visits – The library is open daily for your use. Visit before school, during class (with teacher approval), between classes, during lunch, or during ESS (limited services). Use the library to study, read, check out materials, conduct research for class assignments, or see the latest newspapers and magazines.
Books – A limit of three books may be checked out at a time. Books are checked out for two weekswith the privilege of renewing the book.
Magazines – A limit of three magazines may be checked out at a time. Magazines are checked out for one week with the privilege of renewing the magazine. Current issues in plastic folders on the periodical shelf may not be checked out; however, back issues are available. Ask a library worker to assist you with checking out any magazines.
Textbooks/Manuals – Some textbooks and manuals are available for checkout (30 days). If the book is not returned on the due date, a fine of fifty cents per day is charged.
Overdue Policies – A charge of five cents per day will be made for all other overdue books or magazines. Only those days that school is in session will be included in computing fines. If you are absent from school on the due date, you are still responsible for paying the overdue fee. Overdue reminders will be emailed to you. You are responsible for checking your school email to receive these reminders. Failure to take care of overdue library fines or materials will result in obligations, phones calls, and disciplinary action.
Lost or Damaged Materials – The current replacement price will be charged for all materials lost or damaged.
Laptops – You may use your laptop for school assignments only in the designated library areas.
Extended School Services (ESS) - Extended school tutoring and make-up testing is held in the library. Limited library service is available during these hours.
Disciplinary Policy – The library is a place to read or study. Any student causing a disturbance will be dealt with accordingly. You will be given discipline marks, taken back to your teacher, or given a discipline referral.
Printers – Laptop printers are in the library. You are responsible for picking up your own printings, which MUST be for school assignments only. No personal printing is allowed. (Your printings are monitored.) Printers are usually paused/shut off during ENL so that all students can be in the classroom for school announcements.
